Plan a project with NVIDIA's free 3D models

NVIDIA's SimReady Central puts over 2,000 physics-ready 3D models on Hugging Face, built to train robots. Here's what's in it, and a prompt to plan your first project with it.

Context & limitations

NVIDIA calls it a free, ungated starting point. Anyone can browse the library, but check the terms on each dataset before you download or reuse assets.

Do this yourself

I want to use free 3D models from NVIDIA's SimReady Central library for ___ (my project, for example a robot arm demo, a warehouse simulation, a game prototype or a school project). My experience with 3D is ___ (none, some Blender, I code). First, check current sources and explain in 3 to 5 bullet points what SimReady assets are, what physics data they can include, and what software opens them. Link each source. Then ask me one question at a time (up to 4) about my goal, my computer, and the time I have. Then give me: 1. The 5 to 10 asset types I should look for first, and why. 2. A step-by-step plan to get one working scene running this week, with the free tools I'd need. 3. One beginner mistake to avoid, like using models without collision shapes for physics. Keep it simple, say clearly if something needs a powerful GPU, and check the licence terms before I use anything in a public project.

Most free 3D models only look right. SimReady models can also carry weight, friction and joint data, which is what a robot simulation needs. Knowing that difference helps you pick the right assets for a game, a demo or a robotics project.
