Practise a real conversation with an AI voice mode
Meta's Muse agent now does real-time voice and video chat with an avatar that reacts as you speak. Here's what's new, and a prompt to practise a real conversation with any voice AI.
By Alan Brown
📞 You can now video call Meta's AI, and it reacts while you talk.
- 🤖 It's called Muse, Meta's AI agent, and Meta has opened real-time voice and video chat to US users: www.newsbytesapp.com/news/science/meta-s-muse-ai-can-now-have-real-time-voice-conversations/story
- ⚡ Tap the phone icon and just talk. Meta reports replies in about 870 milliseconds, and you can cut in mid-sentence like a normal conversation: www.nocode.mba/ai-release-tracker/releases/muse-realtime-avatar
- 🙂 Turn on the avatar and you get a face that reacts while it listens and speaks.
- 🧠 While you're chatting, it can keep working on your task in the background: marketing4ecommerce.net/en/meta-muse-announcements/
- 💧 Meta says generated video carries an invisible watermark, so it can be identified as AI.
Context & limitations
It's US only for now and for adults. You don't need Muse to try the idea, though: the prompt below works with any AI voice mode.
Do this yourself
Voice mode turns an AI from something you type at into something you can rehearse with: an interview, a hard conversation or a new language. A clear setup gets you useful practice instead of small talk.
