📝 Handwritten notes to a finished study guide, in one prompt.

  • 📂 Google Gemini can now create, preview and edit real files right inside the chat: PDFs, Word, Excel, Google Slides and more, 11 formats in total. Google's announcement: blog.google/innovation-and-ai/products/gemini-app/edit-files-directly/
  • 📸 Snap your notes, ask for a study guide, then highlight any section and tell Gemini what to change, or edit it yourself.
  • 🎓 Students, teachers, parents: this one's a game-changer for revision.

Context & limitations

Google says in-chat editing works for PDFs on web and mobile, and for Docs, Sheets, slide decks and text files on the web. The prompt below builds the guide, and marks anything it adds so you can check it.

Do this yourself

I've attached photos of my handwritten notes. Turn them into a study guide I can revise from. Before you start, ask me one question at a time: 1. The subject, topic and level (for example, Year 10 biology or first-year economics). 2. What the guide is for: an exam, a test next week or general revision. 3. The file I want: a Google Doc, PDF or Word file. Then create the study guide as that file, with: - A one-paragraph overview of the topic. - Sections that follow the order of my notes, each with the key points in plain language. - A key-terms table: term, definition, and an example. - Five practice questions that mix recall and understanding, with an answer key at the end. - A "check these" list of anything in my notes you couldn't read, or that looks incomplete or possibly wrong. Rules: don't invent content that isn't in my notes. Where you add a fact to fill a gap, mark it [added] so I can check it against my textbook or teacher. Keep the whole guide to about two pages.

Badged Gemini because the video uses its in-chat file editing. ChatGPT and Claude can also read photos of notes and make documents. Check every fact against your textbook.
