Set up five creative skills for Claude Code
Video, competitor research, market analysis, writing style and audio — with install links and a practical first task for each.
By Alan Brown · Works with Claude Code
Start with one useful task, then add the other skills as you need them. These instructions target Claude Code on your computer. Remotion and ElevenLabs are provider-maintained collections; the other links are community implementations. Deep Research and Voice DNA are shared names, so the examples below are identified explicitly rather than claimed to be the exact packages shown in the reel. Reviewed 27 September 2026.
- Before you install: have Claude Code working, plus Node.js/npm for the npx commands and Git for the clone commands. Run commands in your terminal. For the skills installer, select Claude Code and your preferred project or personal scope. Read each repository's setup notes, then start a fresh Claude Code session and ask it to confirm the skill is available.
- 1️⃣ Remotion — install the official collection with: npx skills add remotion-dev/skills. Source: github.com/remotion-dev/skills. First task: ‘Create a 30-second explainer about ___, with a storyboard, readable captions and restrained motion. Show a preview before rendering an MP4.’ The skills guide video creation; they do not remove the need for rendering, assets or revisions. Check Remotion's licensing for your use at www.remotion.dev/license.
- 2️⃣ Competitive Ads Extractor — the community skill's name is competitive-ads-extractor. Download the ComposioHQ repository ZIP, then copy only its competitive-ads-extractor folder into ~/.claude/skills/ so SKILL.md sits inside that folder. Source: github.com/ComposioHQ/awesome-claude-skills/tree/master/competitive-ads-extractor. First task: ‘Review accessible ads from ___ in ___; capture the source URL, date, hook, message and CTA.’ It needs access to the relevant ad library through working browsing tools. An active ad does not establish sales, conversions or profitability.
- 3️⃣ Deep Research — one documented community option is 199-biotechnologies/claude-deep-research-skill. Install with: git clone github.com/199-biotechnologies/claude-deep-research-skill.git ~/.claude/skills/deep-research. Source and optional search setup: github.com/199-biotechnologies/claude-deep-research-skill. First task: ‘Deep research the market for ___ in ___; give me a concise report with dated sources and uncertainties.’ Begin with basic usage; optional search providers may need keys and fees. Running unattended depends on your session and permissions, not simply installing the skill.
- 4️⃣ Voice DNA — one community implementation is kjmagnan1s/voice-dna-builder. Install with: git clone github.com/kjmagnan1s/voice-dna-builder.git ~/.claude/skills/voice-dna-builder. Source: github.com/kjmagnan1s/voice-dna-builder. Supply several pieces of your own writing, then ask: ‘Build my voice spec from these samples; identify sentence rhythm, vocabulary and signature phrases, with examples.’ Keep the resulting voice-dna.md for future writing tasks. This is a writing-style profile, not an audio voice clone.
- 5️⃣ ElevenLabs — install the official collection with: npx skills add elevenlabs/skills. Source: github.com/elevenlabs/skills. Follow its setup-api-key instructions to configure ELEVENLABS_API_KEY locally; do not put the key in prompts or source control. First task: ‘Turn this approved script into narration; show the voice choice and estimated usage first.’ For a podcast, approve a two-speaker script and voice choices before producing audio. Rendering time depends on length and tooling; one minute is not guaranteed.
- What ‘free’ means: the linked skill files are available to install without a skill purchase, but Claude access, search APIs, rendering and audio services may have costs or limits. ElevenLabs has a limited free tier; voice cloning and commercial-use rights depend on paid plans. Check elevenlabs.io/pricing before generating. A free skill does not make the underlying service unlimited or free.
Context & limitations
Try one small output first: a sourced brief, a voice profile or a short video. Once it works, reuse the approved brief across the other tools. You can also continue with the Remotion editing guide at One video. One prompt. An edited first cut..
Do this yourself
One brief connects the tools around a deliverable, with evidence and review checks at each handoff.
