🎞️ ChatGPT can now turn any picture into a GIF.

  • 🖼️ It's called Images 2.6, and OpenAI says it's rolling out across ChatGPT and Codex: x.com/OpenAI/status/2118124944928432327
  • ✨ Ask for an animated loop from a photo, a mascot or even a rough sketch, then tweak the speed or single frames: datanorth.ai/news/chatgpt-images-2-6-gifs
  • 📌 Save a reference image of yourself, your pet or a character once and reuse it without uploading it again, so faces, products and brand details stay consistent.
  • ⚡ For developers, the new API models, Flare and Sunburst, are 50% faster according to OpenAI. Flare can make an image in as little as six seconds, and both can export SVGs: tbreak.com/chatgpt-images-2-6-gif-creation/
  • 📈 OpenAI says people now make over 4 billion images a week with its tools.

Context & limitations

The 50% speed-up is for the API models, not the ChatGPT app itself. Rollouts can be staged, so check your own account if you don't see GIFs yet. Be careful saving photos of other people as references, and only do it with their consent.

Do this yourself

I want to make animated GIFs with ChatGPT Images 2.6 for ___ (my business, product or brand). My audience is ___ and I'll use the GIFs on ___ (Instagram stories, ads, my website, email). Ask me one question at a time (up to 3) about my brand colours, style and what I want people to feel. Then write me 5 ready-to-paste GIF prompts, one for each of these: 1. My logo animating in (a short, clean loop). 2. My product turning slowly on a simple background. 3. A mascot or character doing one simple action (waving, jumping, thumbs up). 4. A before/after or problem/solution loop for an ad. 5. A reaction GIF my followers would actually share. For each prompt, include: what moves and what stays still, the background, the loop length, the colours, and one line on where I'd use it. Keep text inside the GIF to 3 words or fewer. Then tell me how to save my logo or character as a reference image so I don't have to re-upload it. If you're not sure a feature is in my ChatGPT plan yet, say so and point me to OpenAI's current help page instead of guessing.

A moving logo or product loop used to need a designer or an animation tool. Now a clear prompt gets you a first version in your chat, which you can test in ads, stories and emails before paying anyone.
