Compare AI tools for your own workflow

Watch Alan’s personal tier list, then compare AI tools against your own tasks, budget and results.

Alan’s video groups AI tools into Basic, Good and Amazing based on his experience. Use it as a starting point for your own shortlist.

  • The video covers writing, research, coding, websites, images, video, voice, presentations, studying and business-building workflows.
  • A tool can be excellent for one task and a poor fit for another. Compare tools within the same use case.
  • Try the same small task in each candidate and compare the result, time spent fixing it and actual cost.
  • The caption does not name the tools in each tier. Watch the video for Alan’s rankings; the prompt below helps you make your own comparison.

Do this yourself

Help me compare AI tools for this task: ___. My budget is ___, my experience is ___, and the tools I want to compare are ___. Ask for any missing information that would change the recommendation. Define what Basic, Good and Amazing would mean for this specific task before assigning any tiers. Compare output quality, ease of use, total cost, usage limits, privacy controls, integrations and export options. Use current official sources for factual claims, include links and the date checked, and mark anything you cannot verify. Give each tool the same test task and scoring criteria. Distinguish measured results from opinions; do not invent test results. Finish with a comparison table, one short trial I can run, and a recommendation based on my needs, including when an existing or non-AI tool is enough.

A shared task and explicit criteria make the comparison useful without treating popularity or a personal ranking as proof.
